Creating Space When Downsizing
I don’t know about most folks out there, but I suspect there are many in our same situation. We think a lot about downsizing! Our children are grown, out on their own, and yet we still live in a four-bedroom home. We have re-purposed one of the bedrooms within the past three years as an office for my professor wife in the evenings for grading papers, etc. We have two other bedrooms which are used on the rare occasions for overnight guests. One of them is currently a staging area to stain a piece of furniture our oldest son made for us. The other one is an occasional craft room. Sometimes we spread things out on the floor or set up a worktable. All our spare bedrooms now contain Murphy beds. This is more efficient use of space than tying them up as full-time bedrooms.
New Customer
Recently, we installed a queen size Murphy Bed in the Lexington area. It is a white painted Murphy bed cabinet utilizing the EZrest frame system. Crown molding and raised trim on the bi-fold doors give it a classic look. Inside is a Charleston model mattress (the best we offer!). The couple who purchase this beautiful Murphy bed had recently downsized to a smaller home. The Murphy bed makes their spare bedroom an office reading room!
Downsizing Trend
Many of our customers have downsized from much larger homes to smaller homes. They want to better utilize available space. A “fold down” Murphy bed offers a viable solution. With the holidays coming up and families coming together they will have extra bed space for their guests. When the holidays are finished and their guests have gone home, they will have rooms that can be used for other purposes than full time bedrooms.
Custom Design
Due to the customized nature of our Amish built Murphy bed cabinets, taking eight weeks to build, we cannot get one to you by Christmas 2017. However, we would love to design a space saving solution for your household in the new year. 2018 is the year you make your spaces work for you! After sending your guests on their way, start thinking about how a space saving Murphy bed can give you room to work, create, and play.
If you are interested in seeing one of these beds in operation, please give us a call at 866-325-9875 or e-mail me tupper@kentuckymurphybeds.com. We will arrange an appointment for you to come by. As always, we will come to your home to complete your custom design for a Murphy bed cabinet and any bookcases, desks or other accessory furniture which meet your needs.
For now, from our household to yours have a great holiday season and enjoy your families!
